Two Choirs of Golden Voices Combine to Celebrate Musical Director’s Golden Wedding Anniversary

When you have spent over 40 years of your life teaching people to sing and play the piano, why not indulge yourself to celebrate your Golden Wedding Anniversary in what you like to do best? This is exactly what Christine Buxton and her husband Eric did on 22 February at the Dale Club, Jacksdale.

Christine is the Musical Director of both The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir and the Chiaro Di Canto Ladies Choir and it was the choir’s pleasure to provide the entertainment for such a golden occasion.

Christine in her varied and distinguished musical career has performed in several operas, including Bizet’s Carmen and many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, including at Glyn Bourne Opera House. Christine has also directed musical productions such as Carousel and is a regular guest soloist for the Bulgarian Choir The Voice of Hope.

To have such an illustrious career you need to have a very understanding and supportive husband and father and Eric has always been this in every way. Eric has also enjoyed many musical occasions with Christine over the years.

The evening consisted of a wide variety of Christine and Eric’s favourite choral songs and a number of solos were performed by both choir’s members. However, the undoubted highlight of the evening was two songs performed by her 8 year old granddaughter, Gabriela Buxton , to a very high standard who also accompanied herself on guitar.

Family, guests and choir members supported a raffle on the evening whilst enjoying a wonderful buffet and social evening and £500 was raised for Christine and Eric to donate to charities and good causes of their choice.

If you would like to book The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir to celebrate a special occasion, please contact Malcolm Hill on 01773 602743 or 07706036946, or visit the choirs website on www.pyehillmvc.co.uk
