Crafty Badgers

Friendly knitting, sewing, & crocheting group. Meet every Tuesday evening from 7pm until 9pm. Come along and share your knowledge or learn a new craft.

Our knitting and sewing group is doing really well. It started just over a year ago, when only four of us got together in a member’s home and now we have over thirty members and on average about eighteen of those attend most sessions. Some weeks all of us seem to be knitting and crocheting and no sewing and then all of a sudden the machines are out again and it’s like a sweat shop in action. We have been very lucky to have sewing machines donated and we managed to buy an over locker at a very reasonable price. Also we have a good stock of cottons, materials and wool which have been donated. BADJER helped us with some start-up funding, hence the name ‘Crafty Badgers’ in their honour. It only costs £1.00 to attend and this includes tea, coffee some good company and a laugh. We swap patterns, share ideas and help each other learn new skills. We have knitted outfits for premature babies and last year we made a donation of £50.00 to the Queen’s Medical Children’s Day Ward. This year we are knitting hats to go into shoeboxes for our armed forces. We also hope to arrange some outings to craft shows and exhibitions.

So please come along to see us. If you’d like to learn we’d be pleased to show you how. If there is anything you wish to ask, please contact Dorienne on 01773 779492.
