The Lament

By Bill Kitson

I've had lockouts on the loader

And on the crawley too.

We have not turned a deal of coal,

Whatever shall I do ?

In the office in the morning,

What can I say to him ?

He is almost sure to kick me out,

Before I'm halfway in.

Now things are getting better,

We have turned a lot of coal.

I've fired them in the ripping,

And in the stable hole.

I am feeling really happy now,

Although it's been no fun.

The Gaffer will be pleased with me ...

He has got his Million Tonne.
