About the Memorial project

Who are we, and why are we doing this?

JACKSDALE WAR MEMORIAL RESEARCH PROJECT

In April 2001, B.A.D.J.E.R.'s newly formed 'Heritage Group' submitted an application for funding to the Local Heritage Initiative to request funds to carry out a research project based on the lives of those servicemen named on the Jacksdale Memorial. In June 2001, the bid was approved which has financed the creation of this Community and Heritage Web Site.

Members of the Jacksdale Heritage Group in July 2001 being presented with a cheque from Ashfield District Council for £100 towards the project costs by Rob Wadsworth, Heritage and Tourism Officer.

B.A.D.J.E.R.'s Heritage Group would like to thank all of those involved in the restoration of the memorial in recent years, who, through their dedication have given us a memorial to be proud of and have been our main inspiration for this project.

We need your ongoing help to build this website and are very interested in any information you may have about the servicemen named on the memorial, or anything relating to our villages' heritage.
