JOHN WILLIAM RILEY

No photograph. Can you help?

JW Riley is listed on both the Ironville and Jacksdale Memorials, but, so far we have been unable to trace this man on the Commonwealth War Graves Web Site.

The nearest we have found is a John William Riley born in Alfreton, Derbyshire, but we have no other evidence to substantiate that this is the man named on the Jacksdale Memorial.

His date of death is, therefore unknown.

There is another ‘Riley’ (Ernest Riley, Pte 204628 2/8 Btn Sherwood Foresters) who fell, but we know they are not immediately related. Ernest is also comemorated on the Ironville, Derbyshire, memorial.

There are two other Riley’s named on the Jacksdale Memorial who served.
Harry Riley, Pte 235508, 6th Royal Leicestershires. Resident of Albert Avenue, Jacksdale on the ‘Absent voters register of 1918.’
F. Riley, Pte. Details unknown.

If you can help with any details of the men named, please contact us.
