G DOLMAN

No photograph. Can you help?

This serviceman is listed on the Jacksdale Memorial as ‘C’ Dolman, but appears on the original unveiling Roll of Honour as ‘G’ Dolman. He is also listed on a plaque inside St Mary’s Church, Westwood as ‘G’ Dolman. The Jacksdale Memorial does not record any rank for this man.

So far, we have not been able to trace this man on the War Graves Commission Web site, nor have we found any reference to him in any of the local newspapers of the day. His date of death is, therefore, unknown.

There is another ‘Dolman’ recorded as served (G.S.T. Dolman) on the Jacksdale Memorial, details unknown. He also has his initials incorrectly recorded. He appears as C.G.T. on the Memorial and as G.S.T. on the original unveiling Roll of Honour. It may be that they are one and the same man, as the name has been added on a separate plaque.

We would welcome any further information on either man.

The 1915 Electoral Roll lists a Thomas Dolman of Westwood and an Albert Edward Doleman of Back Lane, Westwood.  We would welcome any information which would help us identify these men.
