A resident of Jacksdale, originating from the neighboring village of Underwood. He enlisted at Mansfield during May 1915.  He was wounded in France and taken to the hospital centre at Le Treport, dying of his wounds on Monday 16th October 1916, aged 29 years.  He left a widow, Florence, but we do not know at this stage if Frank and Florence also had any children.  

The War Graves Commission indicates that his widow lived at ‘New Westwood, Jacksdale.’ 

Private Clarke is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport. (As the original cemetery at Le Treport filled, it became necessary to use the new site at Mont Huon
