In 1902, the Codnor Park and Ironville Co-operative Society Ltd and the Selston Co-operative Society Ltd. decided to start a joint bakery. The name decided on for the new society was "The Codnor Park and Selston Co-Operative Baking Society". In August 1918, this title was altered to the "Jacksdale Co-operative Baking Society Ltd."  The Society's notes also indicate that they initially started trading with a two wheeled horse and van but in February 1910,  upgraded to a four-wheeled van and by March 1920 were proud owners of a 'motor' van. The above photograph must therefore have been taken at some time between 1910 and 1918.
