B.A.D.J.E.R. (Building and Developing Jacksdale & Westwood's Environmental Resources)  


B.A.D.J.E.R. is now nearly 9  years old  and in that time some pretty remarkable events have taken place and they are STILL  going on !  Here are just a few of the differences we have made -

 

 

An award winning village.

 

 

Thank you to all of you who have helped B.A.D.J.E.R. in so many ways. If we all do a little we can achieve a LOT ... and just look at how MUCH  we have already done.

NOVEMBER 2005 -  A crowd of bystanders gather to watch the commemorative pit wheel lowered into place.

 

NOVEMBER 2005The Pye Hill Colliery commemorative pit wheel is installed  opposite Jacksdale Memorial and adjacent to the Memorial Garden, Main Road, Jacksdale.

 

NOVEMBER 2005 - The Pye Hill Colliery Commemorative tub being hoisted into the Miner's Welfare Grounds

SEPTEMBER 2005 -  WHARF GREEN OPENS local poet David Coleman stands at the new entrance archway.

 

SEPTEMBER 2005 - The Official Opening of Wharf Green - local residents test out the new amphitheatre.

 

SEPTEMBER 2005 - The Official Opening of Wharf Green - The Hurdy Gurdy Man winds a merry tune.

AUGUST 2005 - Ashland UK Ltd a local specialist water treatment firm based in Alfreton, choose BADJER as the recipient of their annual award to good causes.

 

AUGUST 2005 - Animal Sculptures Arrive for Wharf Green

 

JULY 2005 - The new 'Ranch Store'  on Main Road, receives lots of support from local residents at its grand opening.

 

AUGUST 2005 - Wharf Green Amphitheatre foundations laid

 

SUMMER  Holidays 2005 - Local youngsters flock to the Netcafe during their school holidays to enjoy all the IT delights on offer.

 

MAY 2005 - The Popular Ashfield FREE Leisure Shopper picking up Jacksdale residents for their weekly shopping outing.

JUNE 2005 - The village centre and memorial looking spick and span ready for Best Kept Village Competition

JUNE 2005 - The Jubilee Garden  at Wagstaff Lane looking a treat - just in time for Jacksdale in Bloom

 

MAY 2005 - The youth shelter with skate park in the background looking bright & cheerful after 'Graffiti Art'  re-paint

SPRING 2005  - Volunteers gather for the Litter Pick

MAY 2005 - Painted in 'Graffiti Art' by Skate park Users as part of Ashfield's Arts Week

 

DEC 2004 - Netcafe Christmas Party

 

AUTUMN 2004 - Jacksdale Social Club host a Charity Auction Evening organised by club members and raise thousands of pounds for charity.

AUTUMN 2004 - Even more daffodils planted by volunteers !

 

AUTUMN 2004 - Jacksdale Garden Centre donate bags of bulbs for Community planting

SUMMER 2004 -  The Netcafe Opens

 

SPRING  2005 - Work starts on Wharf Green but is held up by bad weather and drainage problems.

 

FEB 2004 - Work starts on the Jacksdale Memorial Garden

MAR 2004-  Willow weaving the arches for the Memorial Garden

 2004 - Mosaic Map Installed in the Memorial Garden depicting the soldier which used to stand on top of the Jacksdale Memorial

FEB 2004 - Skateboard Park & Youth Shelter Officially Opened 

JULY 2003 - Calor Gas Village Plaques Installed on village signs  

 

MAY 2003 - Jacksdale Garden Centre re-stocking the Community Centre Flower Bed free of charge. 

 

JULY 2003 - Edward Holmes BADJER Chairman presents a copy of our book "A Village Remembers" to Col Hackett Sherwood Foresters at Crich 

 

JULY 2003 - Jacksdale's Heritage Group publish 'A Village Remembers'  - 300 copies are sold in the first two weeks alone !

 

JULY 2003 - Gavin Wilson decorator and his assistant Shaun renovate  the memorial  free of charge in readiness for the July 2003 parade.

JULY 2003 -Re-enactment of the Unveiling of the Memorial

SUMMER 2003 - Community members meet  the artists to make plans for the Ceramic Map

SEP 2003 - The Ceramic Map is unveiled 

 

JUNE 2003 - Jacksdale Circular Trail is opened

 

AUTUMN 2003 - Jacksdale hosts ADC Civic Chairman's Annual Service of Worship.

SUMMER 2003 - Installation of new footpaths for Jacksdale Recreation Ground Walk.

DEC 2003 - Jacksdale Christian Centre host a Christmas Party and meal for the community

JAN 2003 - Jacksdale & Westwood Regional Winners of the Calor Gas Village of the Year
